Toyota New Zealand has announced the company has achieved its highest sales month in the marque’s history with 5403 vehicles sold across Toyota and Lexus.

June marks the best month of new vehicle sales ever for Toyota NZ, with 5257 new Toyota vehicles sold, with an electrification mix of over 44% per cent and CO2 emissions for their new vehicle portfolio continuing to move down towards their end-of-year target.

Toyota NZ Vice President of New Vehicles, Steve Prangnell, thanks all Toyota customers for their continued loyalty despite the ongoing disruption to new vehicle deliveries.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to our customers for their passion for the Toyota brand and our great products. Toyota NZ is incredibly humbled by our customers' loyalty and love of our cars.”

Steve said, “I am also very proud to report that our customer demand continues to swing towards electrified products with 44 per cent of our sales in June hybrid electric vehicles.

“Toyota Hybrid is seen as the powertrain of choice for New Zealanders who want to protect and preserve our environment now and for future generations, yet still enjoy Kiwi’s natural inclinations to enjoy travelling and the great Kiwi lifestyle.”

Toyota NZ Chief Executive Officer, Neeraj Lala says the phenomenal result comes down to the hard work of the Toyota team across the country.

“I want to thank our team across the country who have put in a lot of hard work to achieve this result. A huge thank you to the team from the Toyota Stores to our head office staff, and our Toyota Financial Services team.”

It was an all-time high with multiple milestones reached for Toyota’s range in June:

  • A record retail sales volume through the Toyota network of 60 Stores of which 2383 (44%) were hybrid electric.

  • RAV4 reached its highest sales ever with 1496 vehicles sold, of which over 65% were electrified.

  • An all-time record Hilux sales of 1639 in the month of June, largely thanks to an incredibly successful Fieldays for Toyota NZ.

“We are proud to continue our reduction in our CO2 profile and still achieve a record month for selling Hilux, which is a testament to our balanced product portfolio while still providing customers with high quality, reliable, affordable, and safe vehicles,” says Steve.

“We are 100% focused on ensuring that our customers' needs are met through our product, so June’s result was a fantastic culmination of this effort.”

Toyota NZ has committed to reducing tailpipe emissions from its portfolio by 46% by 2030 and is on track to reach this target.
