Spied! Mercedes-Benz's electric EQS ahead of launch
Mercedes-Benz has teased images of its fully electric EQS that will be launched in April.
Set to take on the Tesla Model S, Audi’s e-tron GT and the Porsche Taycan, the EQS have a range of at least 700km, says Mercedes.
Test cars have recently ditched the bulky body cladding and fake lights of previous testing mules, giving a glimpse of the headlight and tail-light designs and the overall body proportions.
Auto Car UK recently had its first glimpse inside, and says the “EQS will have the same 11.9in central touchscreen and 12.3in digital display as the recently revealed 2021 S-Class, doing away largely with physical controls”.
While the vehicle's front and rear fascias are obscured by camouflage in the photos, the side profile shows it is inspired by the 2019 Vision EQS concept vehicle, with a cab-forward styling and flowing coupe-like roofline.
The EQS also has a closed-off grille section that is Mercedes-Benz EQ sub-brand's styling trait between all of its models.
The EQS will also be the size of the current CLS, rather than the S-Class sedan.
Daimler boss Ola Källenius said the new model would also "set the benchmark" in terms of luxury, comfort and safety.
