The all-new Maserati Ghibli hybrid has arrived in New Zealand, marking the Trident brand’s first steps into the world of electrification.

The all-new Ghibli hybrid represents one of the most ambitious projects for Maserati and will soon be followed by the Levante hybrid, which had its global reveal at the Shanghai motor show.

The Ghibli hybrid sedan starts at $140,000.

“The Ghibli Hybrid marks the first tangible steps in Maserati’s new era,” says Grant Barling, new Maserati General Manager for Australia and New Zealand.

“It paves the way for a range of new products to define and distinguish a new dawn for the brand.”

The choice to introduce hybrid technology first on the Ghibli sedan is no coincidence: this model, with over 100,000 units produced since its launch in 2013, perfectly embodies the Modena-based manufacturer’s DNA.

The Ghibli hybrid combines an internal combustion engine (4-cylinders, turbo, displacement of 2-litres) with a 48-volt alternator and an additional electric supercharger (e-Booster), supported by a battery.

Thanks to maximum power output of 246kW and torque of 450Nm delivered from just 1,500rpm, the new Ghibli hybrid’s performance data is very impressive: top speed of 255km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds.
