UPDATE: Forget Mexit and the Royal family drama, instead let’s go back to a better time – when Princess Di owned an Audi 80 convertible. And there’s even better news; it’s for sale.

The 1994 2.4-litre convertible was used by Princes Diana to transport the little princes, William and Harry.

The green Audi was a gift from Dovercourt Audi of St. John’s Wood, north London. Diana owned it for only a brief period, using it from March to July in 1994, returning it with 4000miles (6450km) on the odometer.

The convertible is expected to sell for between NZ$70,000-80,000.

It was then sold to political commentator Ian Campbell-Dale before going into private collections.

It’s failed to sell at two previous auctions and is now being offered for sale at the Practical Classics classic car and restoration auction now at Warwickshire, having been moved from Birmingham due to travel restrictions. A virtual auction will now be held over 16 days, starting on March 28, rather than two days.

Imagine being able to say you drive Lady Di’s car!

The Audi 80 now has 22,000 miles (35,000km) on the odometer with an estimated price of between NZ$70,000-80,000 – half the original asking price at the previous auctions.

That’s a bargain in AutoMuse’s books. Come on, driving the car Lady Di owned, that used to have young Harry and Wills sitting in the back! I wonder if you get a free tiara with it?
