You can own your own space shuttle
UPDATE, AGAIN!: Houston we have a problem, one of our shuttles is missing. Actually NASA, I think you’ll find it on Trademe as a charity auction item.
A Hamilton-based seller, Flossy98, spent almost 100 hours converting a 2006 Nissan Presage into a replica of the Endeavour Space Shuttle for a charity car rally in February.
The profits from the auction go to the Starship Foundation to support the Starship Children’s Hospital.
It comes with a full tank of fuel (not enough to get you into space, though) and a WOF to March 2023.
“It is a real head-turner that gets attention where ever it goes. Would be great for promotional purposes, fundraising, another car rally, airport shuttle ... or just to impress the kids,” says the seller in the auction blurb.
The wings unclip so it can be driven on the road. The whole tail and rocket structure can be removed in about 10 minutes and the back bumper refitted should you wish to convert it back into a humble Nissan Presage.
The rocket engine performance closely replicates NASA engines but is not close enough to risk patent infringement.
“Your time to head to a galaxy far far away and boldly go where no one has gone before. Klingon to your dreams and make it so,” says the listing.
“Children are our future so let’s help them reach for the Stars.”
It initially sold for $4130 but the trade didn’t go through and was offered for $4000 but failed to sell, or should we say blast off!
