Webb’s auction house is expecting exceptional results at its collectors’ cars and motorbike event on Sunday in Auckland.

There are 76 vehicles for auction including everything from Aston Martin’s to Chevrolets and a Toyota Landcruiser.

Caolán McAleer, Webb’s head of Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles & Single Owner Collections, told AutoMuse that the auction is an “eclectic mix of something for everyone from entry-level buyers to seasoned collectors without any room left in their garage”.

Interest includes not only Aucklanders but throughout New Zealand and Australia. Due to Covid restrictions, only 100 people can attend the live auction at Pavillion 3, ASB Showgrounds, resulting in a large number of online and phone bidders registering.

The level of interest is so high that Webb’s also expects that all the lots will sell during the auction, rather than some being passed in.

The vehicles that are of interest, says McAleer, are Land Rovers, Range Rovers and Landcruisers.

The vehicle auction also includes motorbikes, plus a number of Ferrari’s for auction.

“It’s a great reflection of New Zealand’s agricultural past but a mirror of the current market trend for these types of vehicles internationally, especially well-restored examples,” he said.

“A standout is of course the 2002 Ferrari 550 Barchetta which was the last V12 Ferrari with manual as the standard option which explains the market appreciation of these vehicles on top of the stunning Pininfarnia design.

“The 1970 Mercedes- Benz 280SL, with only 12,000kms on the clock is incredibly rare to see and is a left-hand drive for the purist connoisseurs,” said McAleer.

“The 1960 Porsche 356B Karmann Notchback has had a remarkable restoration and is ready for the summer afternoons on the road.”

That Porsche is AutoMuse’s favourite too and is expected to sell between $145,000-$175,000.

The auction starts at 2pm on December 11, and we’ll have the results for you.
