Unveiled at an online event, the 296 GTB has an all-new, 120-degree 3-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine producing 487kW of power.

It's paired to a plug-in hybrid system comprising a 7.45kWh lithium-ion battery and a 123kW electric motor, combining for a total of 610kW of power and 740Nm of torque.

Ferrari claims a 0-100km/h time of 2.9-second for the 296 GTB with a top speed of over 330km/h.

It doesn't replace the F8 Tributo, but "complements" the range, according to Ferrari. The F8 Tributo will leave production in 2022 once all customer cars have been delivered.

Its name is a reference to its 2992cc six-cylinder engine, while the Gran Turismo Berlinetta (GTB) moniker it as the latest in a long line of Ferrari sports cars that stretches back to the mid-1950s.

The first examples will be delivered in European markets beginning in Q1 2022, with it now for order in New Zealand, with prices to be announced soon.
