Before Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini and most luxury manufacturers invaded its territory, the Range Rover was the ultimate SUV and to many purists still represents the most accomplished and comfortable of its category.

To celebrate, Range Rover is producing 1970 Range Rover Fifty examples. These will have their own special 22in alloy wheels and “Auric Atlas” blackened exterior accents.

Colour pallets will include Carpathian Grey, Santorini Black, Rosello Red and Aruba. However if you’re lucky you can also get one in Range Rover’s original palette being Bahama Gold, Davos White and Tuscan Blue.

The Range Rover will be available in normal or long wheelbase and also in petrol and diesel.

This will keep us happy until the big daddy Range Rover replacement arrives in around a year’s time.

In New Zealand, the Range Rover has been the ultimate luxury SUV with dominance of the full size market segment, making up 30 per cent of market share.

“Range Rover has reached a tremendous milestone, 50 years of refinement and engineering innovation,” says Jaguar Land Rover general manager, Steve Kenchington.

“Range Rover remains the benchmark for design and pinnacle of luxury SUVs. Today, the Range Rover family has evolved into four desirable and capable vehicles which thrive in the New Zealand Market. Range Rover Sport continues to hold our number one spot making up 54 per cent of the Range Rover Family.
