Tesla Model Y set to arrive in NZ in August
It’s a great day for Kiwi Tesla Model Y fans, you can now officially order the mid-size all-electric SUV with the first customer orders due in New Zealand very soon.
Prices start from $76,200 for the rear-wheel-drive model making it eligible for the clean car rebate of $8625. The performance model is $108,900.
Initial deliveries will be Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive due between August to November the brand says. The Performance is due from November to February 2023.
But as the Tesla Model 3’s waiting list is now up to 12 months for Kiwis, it will be interesting to see if the delivery time for the Model Y will be pushed out due to popularity.
The RWD has a range of 455 km of WLTP range, plenty of storage space, and a medical-grade HEPA filter.
Inside, Model Y’s panoramic glass roof and high seating creates a feeling of spaciousness and offers an expansive view from every seat in the vehicle. The front trunk and split-folding second-row seats provide a total of 2158 litres of storage space.
The Performance has a range of 514 km with 0-100km/h in 3.7seconds.
Like Model 3, Model Y requires no keys, but instead connects to your smartphone for seamless entry and exit, with a single 15-inch touchscreen interface inside for all of the car’s controls.
Model Y also connects with the Tesla Mobile app for unique, easy-to-access features like remote unlock, remote pre-conditioning, location tracking, Speed Limit Mode, and much more.
The Model Y is designed to be the safest mid-size SUV. Built from the ground up as an electric vehicle, the low centre of gravity, rigid body structure, and large crumple zones provide unparalleled protection. Its aerodynamic design and leading battery technology also make it highly efficient in terms of energy usage, meaning you can achieve a better range with less energy.
Model Y is also compatible with our current Supercharger network of 59 Superchargers at 13 locations across New Zealand, including our V3 Superchargers which can charge at rates up to 1600 km per hour. As with all Teslas, Model Y gets better over time with frequent over-the-air software updates.
