It’s already the top-selling electric vehicle in New Zealand, and Tesla is now making the most of the clean car rebate by reducing the price of the Model 3 – again.

The brand had already dropped the price of the Model 3 at the beginning of May to $71,732, a decrease of $2168 for the Standard Range Plus model. Now it is in the sub-$70,000 with a starting price of $66,900, and once the $8625 rebate is applied, it will cost $58,275.

The Model 3 Long Range is now $82,900 and the Performance is $95,900.

Tesla has implemented similar price drops in Australia over the weekend, and it's thought to do with our Model 3 cars for Australasian now being produced at the company’s gigafactory in China.

Year-to-date, there have been 706 Model 3s registered in New Zealand, with June seeing 222 arriving here.

The next biggest selling EV so far in 2021 is the MG ZS EV at 239, with Hyundai’s Kona just behind with 234.
