BMW Group New Zealand has had a strong start to 2025 with it outpacing the premium segment with strong sales growth across the board in the first quarter.
Registrations of new BMW models, at 535 units, were up 18.6 per cent in the first three months of the year, whereas the premium segment grew by just 7.9 per cent.
The month of March alone was also prosperous for BMW, with the brand achieving 209 sales. This marked an eight per cent increase on 2024.
Meanwhile, the Mini brand has gained significant traction in sales volume off the back of its new generation model rollout.
Registrations of its models were up 10 per cent in March and 35 per cent for the quarter.

BMW Group New Zealand Managing Director Adam Shaver credited multiple factors in achieving the impressive outcome.
“This excellent result starts with our ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience via our dealer network,” said Shaver said.
“This is combined with compelling product across numerous vehicle types and powertrains, which is evidenced by the outstanding response to both our internal combustion and BEV offerings, as well as our BMW M models.”
Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) from the BMW Group continue to perform strongly in New Zealand. In the first quarter of the year, BMW BEV volume was up 28.4 per cent with a total of 131 registrations. The BMW iX1 continues to strike a chord nearly two years after its first introduction to the market, with 86 per cent year-on-year growth.
Registrations of Mini BEVs have also increased exponentially as customers experience the new offerings with their increased EV driving range, technology and design features.
