Rolls-Royce electric Spectre coupe wows Kiwi fans

Rolls-Royce in New Zealand has officially launched the ultra-luxury fully electric Spectre coupe with the brand already receiving four orders for the $750,000-plus bespoke vehicle.

The two-door four-seater measures 5475 mm in length, making it the longest Roll-Royce in production, even beating the Cullinan SUV.

The Spectre (pronounced Spec-ta) is powered by a 102kWh battery and two electric motors, producing 430kW of power and 900Nm of torque. It has an impressive 0-100km/h of 4.5 seconds considering it weighs 2890 kg.

The two-door coupe has four seats and has a range of 530km.

It has a range of 530km and can charge from 10 to 80 percent on a 195kW DC fast charger in 34 minutes. A 0 to 100 percent charge on a 22kW home wallbox will take 5 ½ hours.

The Spectre has the largest version yet of the company’s iconic “Pantheon” grille (not that it needs it as it’s electric) and instead of housing a radiator is used to direct the airflow under the bonnet to assist in cooling the electrical components.

The Spectre is also the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever produced, with a drag coefficient of just 0.25. Even the Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet emblem was redesigned to make her more aerodynamic. It is 17mm lower than on other models.

It is the longest production Rolls-Royce at 5475 mm.

Rolls-Royce is now famous for its Starlight roof lining but the electric coupe has a first with  Starlight doors making it a total of 6900 stars in the Spectre.

The Spectre has Starlight roof lining and now Starlight doors.

And the bespoke aspect of every Rolls-Royce is an important factor. 

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Auckland brand manager, Ruwan Siriwardena, specced the model featured here, bringing the price to more than $900,000 including $34,000 for the starlight roof and doors.

Siriwardena also picked the startling exterior colour of Twilight Purple. Maybe startling for me, but two of the four Spectre buyers picked that colour too.

Spectre is the first electric vehicle for Rolls-Royce while the brand says by the end of 2030, its entire product portfolio will be fully electric.

The Spectre has the biggest Pantheon grille of any production Rolls-Royces.
