An Auckland vehicle customisation company has spent 200 hours to create a one-of-a-kind paint job on a 2007 Ferrari F430 Soft Top Convertible Spider.

Custom Coatings partnered with Cota Protect to create the mobile work of art that is an interpretation of a planet having made a journey through a galaxy.

The final work utilised a revolutionary paint coating technology that provides incredible depth, clarity and detail, the car has the highest grade paint protection available on the market.

The paint is also fully removable, leaving the original paintwork beneath the layer of art in immaculate condition thanks to the technology of Clarity Coat. The thick, transparent layer of Clarity Coat paint was sprayed on, before delicately curing over 48 hours into a removable film.

The paint was then topped with traditional automobile paint with special effects added, before a thorough and highly intensive 16-hour hand polish.

Finally, the Ferrari F430 was coated with a German-designed graphene nano-coating to protect and enhance the colour, prevent watermarks and surface scratches and produce a luxurious, silky smooth finish.

“I’ve never really been pushed to the limit of my imagination the way I was with this project", said Grant Petersen, Lead Creative Designer at Custom Coatings.

"It was an incredible opportunity to push the boundaries of my creativity with a supercar as a blank canvas."

And there’s good news for fans of this unique Ferrari F430 V8, it’s now for sale.
