BMW New Zealand has just announced the price of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its X3 SUV.

The X3 xDrive30e PHEV will be priced from $107,700 with the first vehicles here mid this year.

The new PHEV X3 will become the seventh electrified vehicle available in the New Zealand line-up and follows the recent arrival of the new BMW 330e and X5 xDrive45e PHEV models, both of which offer significantly improved performance and electric range over their predecessors.

BMW NZ also offers the i3 Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) as part of a targeted strategy to offer a diverse portfolio of luxury vehicles with the widest variety of powertrains.

The all-new X3 PHEV will have all-wheel-drive via BMW xDrive and cutting-edge BMW eDrive technology.

An advanced high voltage lithium-ion battery cell enables the X3 PHEV to deliver emission free pure electric mobility with a range of up to 55km.

The X3s four-cylinder combustion engine and electric motor also provides dynamic performance with 0 to 100km/h in 6.1 seconds.

The X3 PHEV achieves this while delivering combined fuel consumption figures of between 2.4 and 2.1 litres per 100km. CO2 emissions meanwhile amount to 54 to 49 grams per kilometre.

BMW Group NZ managing director, Karol Abrasowicz-Madej, said arrival of the X3 PHEV highlights BMW Group New Zealand’s commitment to increasing its sustainability-focused product offering.

“BMW Group has the largest range of electrified vehicles in New Zealand and we plan to maintain this position by continuing to introduce new PHEV or EV models, such as the brilliant X3 xDrive30e,” he said.

“We like to give our customers the opportunity to select a vehicle fit for them, giving them the power of choice, whether it’s diesel, petrol, fully electric or in this case, plug-in hybrid. The advanced BMW PHEV system in the X3 xDrive30e is ideal for those who want to take the first step towards and electric future.”
