Porsche has upgraded its hybrid Cayennes with 17.9-kwh battery packs to replace the 14.1-kwh battery packs.

This will apply to the 2021 E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid and will give them approximately 30 per cent more electric range, up to 48 kilometres with zero local emissions.

The E-Hybrid continues with its 3-litre turbocharged V6, and the Turbo S E-Hybrid continues with its 4-litre, twin-turbo V8, putting out 339kW and 513kW respectively.

Porsche's regenerative chargers have been tweaked in both models to give an 80 per cent charge in "Charge Mode", as opposed to 100 per cent previously. It has also upped the ante for faster charging when the cars are in Sport or Sport+ mode, which ensures more electric available under maximum acceleration.

The upgraded batteries will be fitted to both the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe models.

The Porsche Cayenne can now cover up to 48 kilometres with zero local emissions.
