Porsche has global reveal of all-new Macan SUV
The second-generation Porsche Macan has had its global reveal in Singapore with the SUV now all-electric.
Taking on rivals such as the Jaguar I-Pace, the new will arrive with a choice of two four-wheel-drive variants: the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo.
The electric Macan will be sold alongside the petrol-powered version until the end of 2025, when the line-up will become exclusively electric.
Porsche New Zealand says the new Macan can be ordered now, with the Macan 4 starting at $166,500 and producing 300kW of power. The Macan Turbo starts at $223,000 and has 470kW of power, an official 0-100km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a limited 260km/h top speed.
First arrivals are currently anticipated here in the 4th quarter of 2024.
“We are taking the Macan to a completely new level – with exceptional E-Performance, the new Driver Experience, and a very impressive design,” said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, at the world premiere.
Thanks to the sharper proportions and Porsche Design DNA, the new Macan models look dynamic and dominant, says the brand
“With the all-electric Macan, we are presenting the first Porsche that we are taking electric from an established product identity,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche.
“The new Macan is clearly recognisable by its brand identity as part of the Porsche product family. The classic Porsche proportions have been further developed and optimally adapted to the challenges of an electric vehicle. This has further heightened the sporty, modern and dynamic appearance of the Macan. The design makes it clear: The Macan remains the sports car in its segment, even in electric form.”
The roofline and overall silhouette are significantly sleeker than the first-generation Macan, particularly in the rakish rear end, which houses a retractable spoiler that deploys in various stages to increase downforce.
At 4784mm long, 1938mm wide and 1622mm tall, the new electric Macan is 103mm longer, 15mm wider and a scant 2mm lower than the existing petrol model. The wheelbase is also 86mm longer at 2893mm.
