NZ to get the first-ever BMW M Touring wagon
BMW New Zealand will introduce the first-ever BMW M3 Touring to local enthusiasts in the first quarter of next year.
The M3 Touring makes its global debut at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The highly anticipated all-new model was first confirmed for introduction in 2020, and brings together motorsport pedigree, a distinctive character, and a broad spread of practical qualities.
It is the fourth body variant in the BMW M3 and M4 line-up and will be offered exclusively in Competition specification with the intelligent M xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The powertrain technology of the BMW M3 Touring is focused wholly on delivering towering performance. It combines the 375kW version of the six-cylinder in-line engine featuring M TwinPower Turbo technology, the renowned eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, and M xDrive.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.6 seconds and the sprint from 0 to 200 km/h requires only 12.9 seconds. Opting for the M Driver’s Package increases the electronically limited top speed from 250km/h to 280km/h.
The interior of the first BMW M3 Touring gives it a distinctive character profile, providing fresh scope for experiencing M-style performance in everyday use. Complementing this is the integration of the new BMW iDrive including BMW Curved Display, bringing a new level of control, operation, and connectivity to the cabin.
The BMW M3 Touring launches as celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of BMW M continue apace. This year has already seen the debut of both the M4 CSL and fully electric BMW iX M60, while later this year the all-new BMW M2 will break cover.
The milestone year will be crowned by the start of production of the BMW XM, the most powerful BMW M car ever to go into series production, and the brand’s first high-performance model to employ a plug-in hybrid drive system.
New Zealand continues to be among the world’s leading markets for BMW M, with one in four BMWs registered here wearing an M badge.
The BMW M3 already has a strong enthusiast following in New Zealand. In the past year, there have already been 58 registrations of the latest generation BMW M3 Sedan, putting the model at the top of the sales charts for BMW M cars in New Zealand.
Full pricing and specification detail to be announced in the lead-up to launch.
