NZ gets updated Tesla Model 3 sedan
The Tesla Model 3 has not only been the key vehicle for the brand but also globally with more than two million cars sold in the past six years, and now the electric sedan has been updated.
According to Tesla, the Model 3 played a “pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of electric cars by offering an accessible, high-performance, and technologically advanced electric vehicle (EV) option that not only appealed to a broader audience but also, shifted the perceptions about EV ownership”.
The 2024 Model 3 has a new ‘face’, front and rear lights plus improved cabin acoustics and better aerodynamics
The Model 3 update was revealed at Tesla’s inner Auckland showroom recently, with the sedan showing a sleekier bonnet rather than its previous “frog” like styling.
The 2024 Model 3 is priced from $67,900 (with a range of 513km) and the AWD’s range is 629km and priced from $76,200. Tesla hopes it can get in some of the new models before the end of the year so Kiwis can claim the $7015 clean car rebate.
Optimised for aerodynamics with sharper body lines and aero-optimized surfaces to reduce drag, improve wind noise and increase range. Bold new lights transform Model 3. Wing-shaped headlights with integrated fog lamps set a new design benchmark while improving night driving safety. Unlike its predecessor, the new taillight is designed into one piece, and integrated into the liftgate to improve fit.
Inside, the Model 3 centre console has been re-designed to offer more versatility, space and convenience for driver and passenger. The front 15” touchscreen has improved brightness and responsiveness with customisable UI that gets better over time with Tesla’s over-the-air updates.
The cabin is quieter than ever thanks to 360-degree acoustic glass technology, increased suspension bushings, improved seals and the addition of sound-dampening materials.
Ventilated front seats are fully integrated into the automatic climate controls and can be easily adjusted through touchscreen while the rear seats can now be heated.
Model 3 has been upgraded with a rear 8” touchscreen that allows passengers to access climate controls and entertainment from the rear seats.
Comfort and driving quality have been improved based on owner feedback, rigorous in-house testing and real-world driving data. Power distribution is elevated with next-generation vehicle stability and Tesla’s superior Traction Control. Together they provide rapid power distribution response, ensure precision cornering and secure handling on wet and slippery surfaces. Upgraded wheel configurations in 18” and 19” improve overall aesthetic and reduce drag.
