Nissan New Zealand has just announced details of all-new Juke that has been reinvented to meet the ever popular compact SUV segment.

Just launched in Australia, Nissan NZ says it expects to have the funky crossover in dealerships mid to late June, with prices just announced.

The Juke made a big impact on the SUV scene when it was first launched in 2010, with only the Skoda Yeti rivalling it with “unique” looks. These two compact SUVs went for  head turning features such as bulging front headlights and angled rear lights for the Juke while the Yeti had very high sides.

While the Yeti is now extinct, Juke has survived and is better than before, says Nissan.

It sits on Nissan’s new CMF-B platform, making it longer, wider, taller and more aerodynamic than before.

It gets a turbocharged 1-litre, three-cylinder engine (84kW/180Nm) that delivers engaging performance and striking efficiency, as well as an idle stop/start function, which is paired with a seven-speed DCT as standard.

It also gets an 8in touchscreen display and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Thanks to a plethora of standard safety features, it has received a five-star ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) rating.

As well as front, seat-mounted front-side and full-length curtain airbags, the Juke has advanced active-safety features including Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Emergency Braking (including the capability to detect pedestrians and cyclists), Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Intelligent Lane Intervention, with the latter ingeniously employing the brakes to ease a wandering vehicle back into its lane.

““The all-new Nissan Juke is a further example of Nissan disrupting automotive conventions, as we did with the launch of original Nissan Juke in 2010,” says Nissan New Zealand Managing Director, John Manley.

“With its impressive new engine, incredible fuel efficiency and wealth of safety equipment, the all- new Nissan Juke is a small SUV like no other. It has certainly grown up, but it has also lost none of the youthful excitement that the Jukr name is famous for.

“It’s bigger outside, more spacious and luxurious inside, and with its connected cabin and stirring driving dynamics, I’m confident the a all-new Juke will once again re- set the bar for small SUVs in New Zealand.”

The Juke starts from $32,990 for the ST model up to $44,390 for the Ti.

The Juke is 4210mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1595mm in height, all with a kerb weight of just 1251-1274kg.

It also still maintains its iconic fun-factor, courtesy of its broad shoulder lines, raked windscreen and large wheel arches. The eye-catching sculpted flanks and tapered glasshouse worthy of a sports coupe complete its dynamic image.

It will sit on 17in or optional 19in alloy wheels delivering an athletic stance; while the ‘floating roof’ design and sharply creased side panel details add a new level of prestige to its road presence.
