Mazda Unveils All-New Mazda BT-50 ute

Mazda Motor Corporation has revealed the new BT-50 ute via an online global press conference with the aim that it will take on the likes of Ford and Volkswagen pick-ups in popularity.
The vehicle will go on sale in the latter half of 2020 but Mazda NZ managing director, David Hodge, says it is fantastic to have a completely new Mazda BT-50 in our market for the first time in nine years.
“The exterior of the new BT-50 draws on Mazda’s Kodo – Soul of Motion design theme and makes it immediately recognisable as part of the Mazda range of vehicles. Its driving performance, functionality and safety will meet the needs of the wide range of situations where our New Zealand customers will be using the ute,” said Hodge.
The 2021 BT-50 has a more masculine look for the exterior while the interior has the same appeal as its SUVs.
Since its debut in 2006, the BT-50 has been sold mainly in regions such as Australasia, ASEAN, Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa. Its sporty and powerful design, exceptional driving performance capable of taking on all kinds of driving situations, and functionality have all been highly regarded by drivers who actively drive utes.

The second fully redesigned model aims to bring customers pleasure and enjoyment. Based on Isuzu pickup trucks, special care went into the vehicle’s design, ease of use and into creating peace of mind for the occupants.
The truck’s specs include an overall length of 5280mm and it’s 1870mm wide and 1790mm tall. The wheelbase measures 3125mm. The payload for the double cab is rated at 1065kg and it has the mandatory 3500kg braked tow rating. The engine is a 3-litre four-cylinder diesel churning out 140kW at 3600rpm and 450Nm of torque

Prices will be revealed closer to launch date, while the outgoing BT-50 sells from $41,895.
