Lotus is returning to New Zealand, this time under the Giltrap Group umbrella with a new Auckland dealership to be ready by early next year.

The renowned British sports car brand will have a number of vehicles available at the dealership and will undertake all sales, servicing and parts supply for Lotus models in New Zealand.

On sale initially will be Final Edition versions of the iconic Lotus Elise and Lotus Exige.

The Final Edition of the Lotus Elise will be available when the dealership opens.

They will be followed by the Emira, the final petrol-powered car to be launched by Lotus before it transitions to an all-electric future.

Michael Giltrap, Joint Managing Director, Giltrap Group, commented: "We are thrilled to represent Lotus in New Zealand. It’s a brand with strong motor racing and sports car heritage that has an exciting future ahead with high-performance pure electric vehicles."

Chris Parker, Brand Specialist, Lotus Auckland, said that "Lotus is the pinnacle 'driver's car' – light, fast, and exhilarating to be in the company of. It is summed up perfectly by the Lotus 'For The Drivers' philosophy”.

The Final Edition of the Lotus Exige will be available early 2022.

“The company has won the hearts of sports car fans around the world for more than 70 years, and with an exciting new range coming, we know the brand has a bright future ahead."

In 2013, Lotus was under Ateco’s umbrella in New Zealand, with the sports cars sold out of a shared dealership with Maserati on Broadway, Newmarket, but only lasted a couple of years.
