Lexus NZ to add compact hybrid LBX to line-up

As Lexus New Zealand celebrates record sales in the 11 months to the end of November, the marque is soon to welcome an all-new model to its range, the hybrid LBX

Available in New Zealand at the beginning of 2024, the LBX will be the most attainable new Lexus in the line-up, with a price of $58,900 plus on-road costs for the Active front-wheel drive variant.

Lexus New Zealand Vice President, Andrew Davis, says the new LBX offers the full Lexus experience to customers who may aspire to own a Lexus but have not considered the brand before.

“The LBX is designed for a new generation of drivers. All the key elements of Lexus are encapsulated within the subcompact LBX – a brave and unique design, high-quality materials and construction, plus a carefully thought-through driving experience,” he says.

Slotting in under the popular UX crossover, the LBX is the first Lexus model to be offered in three ‘moods’ to match different lifestyles. All three variants are powered by a 1.5-litre hybrid petrol engine.

The Lexus LBX has a has a multi-colour interior.

Active stands out with 18” dark grey metallic and machined alloy wheels, a two-tone exterior, black synthetic leather seats, and comprehensive Lexus Safety System+ package included as standard. 

The Relax and Cool (both from $65,900) mood offers a Panoramic View Monitor and 12.3” Head-Up Display. Relax rides on 18” dark premium metallic alloy wheels and has an Adaptive High Beam System. Inside the passengers can relax on black and dark gray semi-aniline leather accented seats while listening to a 13-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system. 

Cool rides on 18” black alloy wheels and features the latest Lexus Safety System+ and Lexus teammate (auto parking) with six front and rear parking sensors. It has a multi-colour interior illumination for passengers to dial up or down the mood, while enjoying their ride on a choice of either black or saddle tan leather and Ultrasuede™ accented seats.

Active is only available in front-wheel drive, while the Relax and Cool are available in front-wheel drive or E-Four all-wheel drive.
