Ineos Automotive is the official vehicle partner for New Zealand’s Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche this winter providing transportation in our alpine environments.

Ineos Automotive will provide two Grenadier 4X4s for operational use at key locations to maximise emergency responses which play an integral role in the search and rescue of mountain users.

Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche (SARDA) will have one vehicle based in the Christchurch-Canterbury area and another across the Southern Lakes.

The 4X4 will be customised to SARDA’s needs using lightweight materials, state-of-the-art fixings and dog kennels.

The backbone of the Grenadier is a full box-section ladder frame chassis, with heavy-duty solid beam axles, a two-speed transfer case and up to three locking differentials, making it the ideal vehicle for use on multiple terrains.

The 4X4 will be customised to SARDA’s needs using lightweight materials, state-of-the-art fixings and dog kennels to ensure the rescue dogs and equipment are safe and secure during critical missions.

The vehicles will also be equipped with a sophisticated WiFi communications hub, ensuring team members maintain a reliable line of communication with all other emergency rescue crews at all times.

The vehicles and dogs will operate at two main alpine areas.

Justin Hocevar, Head of Region, Asia Pacific Ineos Automotive, comments, “The Grenadier has undergone extensive testing in some of the world’s toughest environments, so it’s the ideal support vehicle for such challenging terrain. SARDA perform a vital role in exceptional circumstances, and we are very proud to be providing this support for its lifesaving operations this winter season, and beyond.”

Karyn Robertson, National Coordinator of SARDA NZ, added: “Having access to the Grenadiers will make a huge difference to our rescue operations. In the event of an avalanche, the vehicle can deploy handlers and dogs quickly but safely to help sweep the area. With numerous unsealed roads and various terrains, robust 4X4 vehicles are the best and safest choice.”

In New Zealand, there are four Ineos Grenadier vehicles available, from the 1924 limited edition model, a station wagon, and two ute variants. They are distributed by Armstrong’s.
