Hyundai, Holden to help NZ emergency fleet
Hyundai New Zealand has joined Holden to service essential vehicles during the COVID19 lockdown.
Holden NZ said on Tuesday that its parts and servicing department would remain open as they maintain the Police fleet, with spokesperson Edward Finn telling autotalk that “Servicing for essential services – Police, farmers, nurses and doctors – will be possible,” but the general public will be excluded.
Hyundai will be ensuring St John’s fleet, including Ambulances are operational to assist emergency medical response.
Some of Hyundai’s other essential services customers include Waste Management, Northpower, Downer NZ, District Health Boards, Department of Corrections and also the Police.
Hyundai NZ general manager, Andy Sinclair, said “it’s important for us to be able to support those that provide vital care to our communities during this time”.
“We are currently finalising the details and process with our essential suppliers to ensure we get their vehicle(s) back on the road as quickly as possible, whilst adhering to the Ministry of Health and Government requirements. Our approach is to first provide support remotely, and then if required, to only use a bare minimum crew.”
