Evans brothers talk (not) racing
These famous Kiwi drivers may not be on the various tracks around the world at the moment, but the Evans brothers have met up via video conferencing to talk racing.
Jaguar Racing has created a series, Re:Charge @ Home, and this week Mitch and Simon Evans were interviewed.
Simon is currently in New Zealand, and Mitch is based in Monaco.
Mitch has shown his winning side as a driver for Panasonic Jaguar Racing while older brother Simon competes in the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy series.
In the new episode the brothers discuss how their relationship has evolved, family support and entertaining racing memories.
Mitch admits in the interview that he misses racing in his Jaguar I-Type 4 due to the suspension of the series because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Being mid-way through the season and with our current on-track form, you want to keep the momentum going but regardless of the track action,” he told his brother.
“The whole experience of travelling with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship is so special to be a part of and the lockdown period has highlighted that even more. To travel to different cities and experience different cultures with your team, up against other world-class drivers, it really is something special … I can’t wait to get back racing when it is right to do so.”
Simon explains what makes driving an electric car so special.
“Jaguar recognised early on that the I-Pace was a very good product. Electrification is such new technology, for every manufacturer, so for Jaguar to make a big statement by announcing its first road car and then launching a racing series that travels around the world is just brilliant.”
The interview is available across YouTube, Apple and Google Podcasts and Spotify.
