Spanish company, Silence, has revealed the 'SO4' – an electric quadricycle fitted with removable batteries.

A company best known for its e-scooters, the S04 is its first fully electric vehicle to hit the market. Measuring 2.33m long and 1.56m wide, the two-seater compact  EV is available in two variants – the L6e and the L7e.

The L6e packs a 6kW motor paired to a 5.6kWh battery, and has a top speed of 45km/h. It can be driven by those carrying a simple AM moped license, which is most common among younger drivers in European countries.

Offering more power, the L7e holds a larger 14kW motor, 11.2 kWh battery, and has a top speed of 90km/h. A standard driver's license is required for this variant.

You can easily remove the battery from the microcar and swap it out.

In both models the batteries can be removed and switched for ones readily charged – available at Silence exchange stations. The company offers a subscription to its customers at approximately NZ$32 dollars per month.

The cabin is minimalistic with standard features such as electric windows, air conditioning and ABS, while keyless entry is available via the owner's smartphone.

Designed, developed and manufactured in Barcelona, the base S04 starts at just over NZ$12,500 dollars.
