Subaru of New Zealand has created its first Walk n’ Wag Doggie Coastal Adventure to be held in Auckland in October, with support going to Paw Justice

The dog-centric adventure is an extension of the two-year partnership Subaru of New Zealand with the Aramex Kiwi Walk & Run Series. The eight events around the country - from Nelson to the Bay of Islands and everywhere in between - are all about Kiwis exploring their beautiful backyard.

The Subaru Walk n’ Wag Doggie Coastal Adventure is a trail walk like the other Kiwi Walk & Run events - only this one is all about the dogs too.

It will be held on Saturday, October 28th at Leigh Auton Reserve, Maraetai, Auckland.

Subaru of New Zealand’s National Marketing Manager Daile Stephens is a proud dog owner and is excited to see the dog-focused Kiwi Walk and Run Series event come to life.

“Our market research has revealed that nearly three-quarters of our Subaru vehicle drivers own dogs, so we saw a good alignment which resulted in the launch of the Subaru Walk n’ Wag Doggie Coastal Adventure,” said Stephens.

“Subarus are the ideal vehicles for adventurous families. Not only do their All-Wheel Drive capabilities enable Subaru drivers to live a ‘bigger life’ through leaving their everyday commute behind and heading off the beaten track, there’s also plenty of interior space for the family and their fur babies to come along too.

“As with all Aramex Kiwi Walk & Run Series events, there will be Kiwi-themed pit stops along the way, offering iconic national treats such as Cookie Time biscuits, jet plane lollies and fresh kiwifruit. Obviously, we will also be catering for everyone’s furry friends and there will be pawstops to keep them hydrated,” said Stephens.

The event’s three distances are the short course: 4.5km; mid-course: 7km; and long course: 11km.

A portion of each entry fee will go towards Paw Justice, which is an animal welfare charity. Paw Justice exists to force change and educate and encourage people to make good choices around their pets. Ultimately, Paw Justice wants members of the public to practice, promote and maintain responsible pet ownership.

Entries for the Subaru Walk n’ Wag Doggie Coastal Adventure open on May 1 at 9am and Subaru will shout the first 50 entrants their entry fee to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary of producing All-Wheel Drive vehicles.

To make sure the day runs smoothly, dogs must be always on a non-retractable leash and entrants are permitted to bring one dog per adult.

Entry fees are dependent on the distance: Kids - 15 and under start at $14; Adults – 16 and over start at $33. Dogs are included as part of each adult entry fee.
