Check out literally the coolest Toyota Land Cruiser in New Zealand, that’s up for auction on Trademe. Why is it so cool? It’s come straight from Scott Base, Antarctica!

The 2004 Land Cruiser Troop Carrier has a 4.2-litre diesel engine, has four-wheel-drive, and is a long-wheel-base model.

When the Cruiser arrived at Scott Base in 2005 it was nicknamed T7. It’s made many trips around Scott Base and out onto the ice shelf.

Used for transporting people and cargo short distances, it’s done a great job for the New Zealand Antarctic Programme.

The sellers, Antarctic NZ, says it can’t “wait to see it go to a loving and warm home”.

During its time at Scott Base, T7 underwent regular servicing and minor maintenance work.

Due to its time on the ice, there is rust in the Land Cruiser.

“The vehicle was last serviced by our Scott Base mechanic in February 2018 at 40,189km / 3946 hours with no issues found,” says Antarctic NZ.

Current bids are at $40,200 and the auction closes Friday evening.  But before you get too excited, it’s as is, where is.

It’s not registered and not licensed. No WOF and you’ll have to arrange it to be transported from Antarctic NZ’s Christchurch base.

“There is rust over different areas on the body. Some of which you can see in the photos. It has also been driven on sea ice (frozen ocean) so rust underneath is probable,” says Antarctic NZ

The branding will be removed before sale, and bad news. No penguins come with the sale of the Landcruiser.

Check out the listing here.

Unfortunately, the branding will be removed before going to the new owner.
