Check out a motorhome for your classic car
Feel like taking a tiki tour around New Zealand (or better still, Europe) but you can’t be parted from your classic sports car? Well, a German luxury motorhome builder has got you covered.
Volkner Mobil specialises in creating luxurious motorhomes, including the Performance S motorhome that has a garage underneath it to store your sports car.
The Performance S motorhome costs €2.035 million (NZ$3.36m), has a slide-out wall that adds even more space when the vehicle is stationary. There are solar panels on the roof and 1800 amp-hours of total battery capacity.
The luxury machine is built on a Mercedes-Benz bus chassis or a structure coming from Volvo. The motorhome measures up to 12 meters in length and sits 3.8 meters high. The engine includes a Mercedes 316 kW powertrain or the Volvo 338kW engine.
The under-vehicle garage emerges hydraulically. The owner drives a car onto the platform, and it slides underneath. No tie-downs are necessary. Volkner pitches this as letting you haul a second vehicle without needing a trailer.
Owners of such beauties a the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (above), Porsche 911 GT2, and even a Bugatti Chiron have bought a Performance S motorhome.
