The BMW iNext has been spotted on roads in Germany, with less being left to the imagination of what this car will look like.

Pictures show the production lights at the front and back, as well as the large kidney grille surrounds. The BMW iNext will get a lightweight 80kW-h battery pack that will be able to cover 640km and should do a 0-100km/h time of 4 seconds, thanks to its almost 400kW engine. It will be BMW's fifth generation battery design. The iNext is expected to be the same size as the X5 although it will sit lower.

It is still unclear whether the iNext name will carry through or it will become the iX5. It will have level three self driving capability at launch, which means the driver must still be prepared to take control at any time, although BMW is aiming for level four during the model's lifecycle.

The iNext will join the BMW iX3, coming later this year. An i4 sedan is also due in 2021 and next after that should be an i7 sedan. Production of the iX3 should kick off in mid 2021.
