A crowd favourite at the recent Webb’s Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia auction stole the show with it sold for nearly double the estimate.

Held at Auckland’s Due Drop Centre in Manukau, the headline vehicle was a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTC. Another highlight was a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL, while featured was a rare 1973 BMW E9 CSI 3.0.

But it was a 1956 Chevrolet Truck that garnered the most pre-auction attention, according to Webb’s staff

The New Zealand Postal Service imported the Chev Trucks to New Zealand for delivery and used them throughout the 1950s.

The restored Chev has an estimate of $60,000-$80,000 but sold for $126,500.

The 1698 Mercedes SL had estimates of $200,000 - $240,000 and sold for $212,750. The 1973 E9 (estimate $200,000 - $250,000) is unsold. And there’s good news for Ferrari fans, the 1968 330 GTC is still available, with a price estimate of $750,000 - $850,000.
